While hurricanes float through the Caribbean, we get a lot of rain, not usual in our neck of the woods. After the last depression past our island, which batters Key West today as a Hurricane cat 4, we noticed water damage due to rain ingress in the cabin of Flicka.
Why I never investigated the bedding job done on the hatch before I do not know. But I should have; Gaps in bedding and holes around the hatch caused water to come in.
So the hatch was pulled from its opening, the silicone junk was removed as much as possible; I hate silicone because it is impossible to remove 100%.
The holes, caused by a different previously installed hatch, were cleaned and filled with epoxy.
After allowing the epoxy to harden butyl tape was used to re-bed the hatch.

This seems to have been a problem for quite a while since rot set in in the lower half of plywood. It is not structural and holds the liner in place. I chose not to mess with that now yet. Since the structural upper part is strong and hard we are ok.
